Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful candidate must have a minimum of 1-2 years recent pediatric Surgical Short Stay experience in a Tertiary Care setting and have worked in an acute pediatric tertiary care setting. Must also be familiar with the process for pediatric surgical recovery and family centred care. Will demonstrate proficiency for both verbal and written communication, critical thinking skills and can prioritize patient care in a fast-paced environment and time manage appropriately. They will accept responsibility for maintaining skills through ongoing professional development, participation in unit training & maintain skills through annual recertification, participate in unit quality improvement activities. Must be able to perform patient & equipment handling up to a 50lb level and perform the role of a primary responder in times that CPR is required.
