Your Opportunity:

These pillars guide the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. The Endoscopy Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients within their own level of competency. Strong communication skills are an asset in this active unit to support both patients and families. The care provided is short term but has a huge impact on the patient's experience! The LPN will be part of a small, hardworking team in the Endoscopy Suite at South Health Campus, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families and/or communities within their level of competency. They will work with the team to provide pre and post Procedure care for a wide variety of patients attending the Unit for endoscopic procedures. Provides nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, preventing illness, injury, and recovering patients post endoscopy. This is a fast-paced unit requiring strong clinical assessment skills with IV management and insertion. Strong clinical assessment skills are required to care for patients post sedation and navigate potential complications associated with the procedure. The ability to multitask is crucial in this fast-paced busy area. Experience with procedural sedation preferred.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

3-5 years recent acute medical nursing experience required. 1- 2 years recent ambulatory experience required. IV certification, confidence in inserting and managing IVs. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time in the recovery room. Physically demanding position. Must be able to push/pull stretchers and assist with the transferring/repositioning of patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with procedural sedation is preferred. Previous experience in Endoscopy is preferred. Connect Care experience is preferred. Specifically, pre/post procedural sedation documentation.
