Licensed Practical Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The incumbent works with a multidisciplinary team and in accordance with the policy and procedures of the RAH and AHS adhering to professional practice standards and Code of Ethics. Consistently provides quality care to meet the needs of the patient. Actively participates in observing, monitoring, reporting and documentation of changes in patient’s physical, mental or emotional state; assists the patient with activities of daily living; provides both patient and family with relevant information and selected education. The LPN will practice towards full scope including medication administration. Varied work start times throughout rotation.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current CLPNA registration and CPR (BCLS – HCP) required. Experience with acute surgical patients in an acute care setting minimum of 2 years required. Experience working to full scope of practice required (including medication administration). Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal skills and computer literacy are necessary. Intravenous Certificates are required. Demonstrated reliability/dependability. The LPN must be capable of working in a fast-paced, demanding environment with patients of varying mobility.
Preferred Qualifications:Ability to work in a physically demanding environment: Considerable standing/walking; lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching (continuously for 5.5 - 7 hours per shift). Walking (continuously for 5.5 - 7 hours per shifts) and lifting up to fifty pounds. Pushing beds/stretchers multiple times for prolonged distance between units. Able to work staggered shifts. Basic computer skills are necessary.
