Your Opportunity:
SkyPointe 2 Complex Mental Health Rehabilitation Program is a unique 32 bed Addiction and Mental Health Continuing Care unit located in the community of Skyview in Calgary. You will have the opportunity to work with a group of dynamic multidisciplinary professionals supporting clients in their rehabilitation and recovery journey in collaboration with our community partner AgeCare. The facility offers a community kitchen, craft areas, library, group facilitation, quiet rooms and a fitness area to support the clients. Its rewarding being part of supporting individuals maintaining their psychiatric stability while assisting them to build skills required to reintegrate into the community. As the Licenced Practical Nurse (LPN) you will support clients living at Skypointe II in the Complex Mental Health and Addiction Rehabilitation Program. Utilizing principles of Patient Family Centered Care, Recovery, Trauma Informed and Psychosocial models of care and will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, peace officers, as well as partnering agency staff members to provide care to clients both on site and in the community. Each member works independently with limited review, consultation, and evaluation. Within the facility, there are other programs (Long-Term Care/Supportive Living/Hospice) operating. These programs may be sharing space and accessing programming individually and collaboratively. You will be a key member of the treatment team, facilitating groups, attending regular consultation/case conferences to provide updates on clients, suggest and implement treatment plans and interventions as well as support psychiatry, medical, and other appointments with clients. As the LPN you will also provide/supervise/observe clients taking their oral and injectable medications as required and monitor for side effects.

You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Working knowledge of Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Order legislation. Knowledge of psychotropic medications including side effects and administration. Minimum 6 months experience working within an acute care/continuing care, or community Addiction and Mental Health program preferred. Experience with complex populations including the ability to work with potentially aggressive clients. Must be able to lift 30lbs, climb five flights of stairs, and ambulate quickly. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years experience working within an acute care, continuing care, or community Addiction and Mental Health program preferred. Knowledge of psychotic disorders is preferred. Familiarity with harm reduction principles is preferred.
