Your Opportunity:
The Alberta Health Services Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) at UAH supports clinical research that improves care for Albertans. Our team assists investigators with the management of clinical trials to help AHS deliver better, patient-focused healthcare. The (AHS-CTU) is currently recruiting a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support Investigators in the conduct of clinical trials. Working as part of an interprofessional research team, the LPN will apply nursing knowledge, critical thinking, and clinical skills to support the safe and efficient conduct of clinical research studies in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and institutional policies. The key responsibilities are: Support study management activities, including the screening and recruitment of potential study participants. Obtain informed consent from participants in compliance with ethical and regulatory standards. Perform protocol-specific procedures, such as collecting and processing biological samples (blood, urine), obtaining vital signs, and completing relevant study assessments. Coordinate and organize participant visits and follow-up appointments in accordance with study protocols. Provide participant education and counseling related to study participation, visit schedules, and data collection procedures. Dispense and document study medication in accordance with protocol requirements and applicable regulations.Perform accurate and timely data entry and documentation in study databases and participant records. Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of study-specific source documents and case report forms. Review and file study-related correspondence and documentation within the Investigator Site File (ISF).Collaborate with research and clinical team members to ensure study activities are conducted efficiently, accurately, and ethically.

You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 2–3 years of current experience working with pharmaceutical clinical trials (Phases I–IV), including hands-on involvement in study management activities such as pre-screening, screening, recruitment, and obtaining informed consent from research participants. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical trial regulations and guidelines, including ICH-GCP, Health Canada, and FDA requirements. Proficiency in electronic data capture (EDC) systems and clinical trial databases, including iMedidata. Skilled in standard computer applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience using Connect Care and Netcare. Proven ability to perform diversified duties requiring independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight timelines and accept new workloads as necessary. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with research participants, investigators, and team members.
Preferred Qualifications:Cardiology and Pulmonary research experience an asset. Health Canada Division 5, GCP certification. Clinical Research Coordinator training through CITI. Experience in creating source documents. Phlebotomy skills and experience in specimen collection and handling.
