Your Opportunity:

Henwood Treatment Centre is a 62-bed live-in treatment centre for those experiencing a substance use concern or a co-occurring substance use and mental health concern. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Henwood Treatment Centre, you will work with the Health Services team to deliver professional, nonjudgmental nursing care for clients in a clinic-like setting with a recovery-focused and trauma-informed approach. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated ability think critically and work independently, while also demonstrating excellent teamwork. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are a must. The successful candidate must demonstrate competency in completing a high quality of nursing care in a fast paced environment, engaging with both internal and external stakeholders as required by client need. Responding to emergent health needs as well as medication delivery are key components of this position. A passion for client teaching and establishing/maintaining supports for on-going care and recovery are also integral to this role. Please Note: Henwood is located in North East Edmonton and public transportation to the facility is limited. Physical requirements of the position include the ability to sit/stand and walk through a large centre as well as use stairs, there is no elevator access. It is also a requirement that the incumbent be physically able to respond to behavioral/clinical emergency situations that may occur anywhere in the building.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Standard or Supplementary First Aid. Current suicide intervention training. Non-violent Crisis Intervention. Recent nursing experience with addictions and knowledge of trauma-informed, recovery focused principles as a compliment to strong knowledge of the addictions process required. Physical requirements of the position include the ability to sit/stand and walk through a large Centre as well as use stairs; there is no elevator access. It is also a requirement that the incumbent be physically able to respond to behavioral/clinical emergency situations; which may occur anywhere in the building.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a clinic environment or triage preferred. Experience facilitating psychoeducational groups preferred. Experience working with inner city agencies is an asset.
