Your Opportunity:
The Stollery Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located at the Sturgeon Community Hospital (SCH) is a 8 bed level 2 NICU that opened in October 2019. The NICU supports the Labor and Delivery (Unit 25) at the SCH as well as accepts babies from the other NICUs in the Edmonton Zone. The program utilizes a Family Centered Care philosophy within an interdisciplinary team model. The successful candidate without recent NICU experience will be required to successfully complete the educational opportunity through the Edmonton Neonatal NICU Education Opportunity: 2.5 week classes beginning August 25, 2025 followed by preceptorship and mentorship. The incumbent will be trained to have a thorough understanding of the care of the level 2 neonatal patients before working independently at the Stollery NICU at the Sturgeon Community Hospital site.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working to the full scope of LPN practice- including medication administration (including IV), advanced physical assessment competency.
Preferred Qualifications:Current/active Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification. Current NICU experience.
