Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Working Knowledge of Psychotropic medications required. Experience in AMH assessment tools including but not limited to the Mental Status examination. Experience in various risk assessments i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk. Minimum of 1 year of Addictions and Mental Health experience within the last 3 years with an FTE. Strong Interpersonal Skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities. Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and attention to detail/accuracy. Demonstrated accountability for own professional practice. Ability to promote a positive work environment that facilitates the development of high performing teams. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in an Addiction and Mental Health inpatient program may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred. Recent nursing experience in an acute in-patient psychiatric setting is preferred. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act preferred. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone preferred. Knowledge of trauma-informed care is preferred.
