Reporting to the Healthcare Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role is an important part of our multidisciplinary team at the Peace River Correctional Center. Our population presents with dynamic and complex needs in the provision of care within custody and criminal justice system. The LPN works as a member of the team collaborating on the delivery of comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals in the correctional environment within level of competency. The LPN provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, preventing illness, injury and disability. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to meet the physical demands of the position. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized and rapid moving environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team. Demonstrates advanced problem-solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Demonstrates communication skills promoting respect and team engagement.
