We provide patient and family-centered care with all team members working within the CoACT collaborative care model. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for adults presenting with acute addictions and mental health concerns. The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide safe, effective, and stage-matched nursing care according to clinical policies, procedures, and evidence-based nursing care standards. The Licensed Practical Nurse works within a concurrent capable, recovery-oriented framework, within the context of a multidisciplinary team. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Two years of recent experience in an Adult Acute Mental Health and Addictions nursing role. Working knowledge of relevant legislation is required, including the Alberta Mental Health Act and the Health Information Act. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology. Experience working with the CoACT model of care is required. Working knowledge and understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in working with clients with concurrent disorders and are appropriately able to assess and manage signs of withdrawal from multiple substances.
