Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Applicants must be physically able to perform all duties listed in the Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse Job Description and Hazard Assessment Control Worksheet (HIAC) including "working conditions". Extended periods of sitting and standing are required. Maintains competencies outlined in legislation and the profession through continuous learning. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize workload. Good listening skills and ability to accurately and effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Evidence of team commitment and good interpersonal skills in dealing with clients, colleagues, physicians and public. Evidence of flexibility, initiative and commitment. Evidence of maturity, diplomacy and tact.
Preferred Qualifications:2-3 years of recent orthopedic or medical/surgical experience or recent preceptorship on a surgical unit preferred.
