Unit 32 is an acute medical unit where holistic palliative care, patient/family support and education, bereavement counseling, and Oncology related Nursing care feature predominately. A candidate who can work effectively within an inter-disciplinary team to provide family focused Nursing care is required. This environment is suitable for candidates who have current experience with Palliative Care and Oncology.
Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) is required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, to provide quality care to patients, and to report observations. Immediate experience in acute care is required as well as experience in oncology and/or palliative related care. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education is required. Self directed individual with a positive attitude, and demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, evidenced by performance appraisals and reference checks. Must be up to full scope of practice with IV medications, PICC care etc. Have an excellent attendance record. Must have advanced authorization through CLPNA for Administering medication via CVC, PICC, and IVAD as well as Administrating Parenteral Nutrition.
