Description:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Critical thinking and ability to manage unpredictable situations. Hemodynamic monitoring, physical assessments, and aseptic techniques. Certification in IV initiation, direct IV medication, CVC, PICC lines, blood glucose. Must be a team player, adaptable and flexible and the ability to jump in and help at all times. Experience coordinating services for patient movement. Supporting patients from all socio-economic high-risk demographics with compassion and respect. Working all required shift patterns. Must be able to complete all components of the job including OHS/WHS requirements of push, pulling, bending, and lifting 50 lb. and wearing lead aprons (20lbs) for long periods of time >6.25 hrs. Stand/walk for the majority of the shift. Medication administration independently in an unsupervised environment.
