Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of two years current nursing experience in an Acute Care setting. Recent experience working with complex wounds, surgical drains & IV (HPTP) therapy. Knowledge, skill, ability and willingness to work to full scope of practice. Commitment to continuous learning relevant to LPN practice. Ability to utilize critical thinking skills in the practice of conducting initial and ongoing nursing assessments, care planning and service delivery. Ability to utilize critical inquiry to assess, plan and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on client outcomes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic use of technology and competency in computer, clinical electronic device use, and electronic documentation. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) from the Heart and Stroke Foundation within the past year.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of a post-basic Medication Administration Course for LPNs. Recent work experience in a community-based setting, Home Care experience preferred. Experience working with complex chronic disease(s) and Palliative clients. Experience in Case management practice and completion of the McMaster AHS Case Management education. Advanced wound care certificate.
