Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful candidate should also demonstrate proficient communication, assessment, documentation and critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize and time manage appropriately. They will accept responsibility for maintaining unit skills through ongoing professional development, participation in unit training classes & maintain skills through annual recertification, participate in unit quality improvement activities. 3-6 month’s recent experience on Cardiac Surgery or Cardiology. Successful completion of the Cardiac Surgery or Cardiology Unit Specific program. Hold active clinical training and experience for Telemetry, Pacemakers & Epicardial Pacing Wire Care, Care & Blood withdrawal from CVC, Central line removal, and the Administration of Basic Cytotoxic Medications. Completion of all of the LPNA practice modules for LPN Restricted Activities. Must be able to perform patient handling and mobilization up to a 50lb level and be an active participant in performing patient resuscitation and CPR.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to those with active clinical training for the Administration of IV Cytotoxic Medications, and Heart and Lung transplant care.
