Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Working Knowledge of Psychotropic medications required. Experience in AMH assessment tools including but not limited to the Mental Status examination. Experience in various risk assessments i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk. 6 months of Addictions and Mental health experience within the last 3 years. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in an Addiction and Mental Health site may be considered. Additionally, you will engage in discharge planning that promotes, maintains, and restores mental health, while preventing mental illness injury, and disability. In this role, you will also be responsible for facilitating and delivering applicable group content to the patients. Your communication skills will be instrumental in effectively engaging with other departments, services, and clients, ensuring the seamless provision of high-quality care. Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred. Recent nursing experience in an acute in-patient psychiatric setting is preferred. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act preferred. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone preferred. Knowledge of trauma-informed care is preferred.
