If you are a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who likes small town living, this position in Two Hills might be for you! As the successful candidate for this position, you will cover Acute Care, Emergency and the Stroke and Geriatric Empowerment Rehabilitation unit (SAGE) in the Two Hills Health Centre and model Patient and Family Centered Care. Situated 135 km east of Edmonton, Two Hills is a rural town serving an agricultural region. The town has a population of 1,379 while the county has approximately 4,500 people. Residents have easy access to the downtown and commercial areas, as well as several parks and playgrounds. The town has a grocery store, several restaurants, gas stations, two banks, various businesses, churches, two schools with Kindergarten to grade 12, an arena, curling rink, gym, and a golf course. Within a half-hour drive are three beautiful lakes ideal for camping and fishing. As members of the nursing team, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are responsible and accountable for the safe quality care of clients. LPNs assess, coordinate and participate in total nursing care for patients and supervise in accordance with CLPNA nursing practice standards, as well as provide leadership, direction and encouragement to staff.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:In addition, the incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Actively integrates Patient and Family Centered Care principles into practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem solving skills. Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing professional and practice competencies through professional development activities. Ability to work shift schedules and meet the physical demands of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum one year’s Acute and Emergency nursing experience. Experience with Connect Care, and general computer skills. CTAS.
