Reporting to the Program Manager, Primary Care and Chronic Disease Management (PCCDM), the Kinesiologist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the PCCDM Department with the Community Respiratory Therapy Team. Responsibilities will include participating in the development, provision and evaluation of group education sessions for pulmonary rehabilitation. Supporting self-management approaches to chronic lung disease and facilitating linkages with appropriate resources in the community. The Kinesiologist will act as a resource for clients as well as supporting the learning needs for other health professionals within the PCCDM department. Description:

As a Kinesiologist, you may be working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing evidence-based and client-centred practice. You may be performing assessment of exercise tolerance for the purpose of developing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining appropriate exercise prescriptions/programs as well as referring patients (clients, residents) appropriately to other healthcare programs and/or services. You will take a health promotion perspective, providing self-management support and guiding the patient towards achieving improvements in their health and physical functioning by conducting pre-participation evaluations, screening of health status, and outcome measurement tests. You may be developing, supervising, monitoring and modifying the exercise programs, supervising clients both individually and in a group-focused program, and providing education to clients and their families.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, or equivalent exercise science degree. Current Clinical Exercise Physiologist to (CSEP) or the American College of Sports Medicine's Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

At least 2 years experience with physical activity and/or fitness assessment with groups and individuals required. Group education or teaching experience required. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology (or related Master’s degree). Experience working with adults with diabetes and/or obesity. Experience with behaviour change models/approaches and or Health Change Methodology.
