Your Opportunity:

Are you an experienced Digital Health or Laboratory professional with a strong interest in transfusion medicine systems? Health Shared Services is seeking an IT Analyst II (ITA2), part-time 0.6 FTE, to join the Laboratory Systems Support (LSS) team supporting WellSky Transfusion, primarily focused on the Report writing function. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the implementation, configuration, integration, and ongoing support of the WellSky Transfusion application and reporting functions. You will work closely with Transfusion Medicine laboratory staff, Epic Beaker Transfusion analysts, and vendor partners to ensure safe, reliable, and effective system performance that directly supports patient care. This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast‑paced healthcare IT environment, solving complex problems and supporting critical clinical workflows across Alberta. A successful candidate has: Experience or knowledge of the functioning of a medical transfusion laboratory An understanding of client business processes. Knowledge of database structure and report writing Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills. Excellent customer relations and support service experience. Experience gaining cooperation with a variety of stakeholders, including management, clinicians, physicians, and coworkers. This opportunity may facilitate working remotely. Location is negotiable.

Description:

As an IT Analyst II, you will provide technical support related to information technology applications either directly to users of the systems or to service delivery functions. You will ensure reliable operations of information systems, resolve complex technical problems, find solutions to customer needs, and lead projects and program initiatives. You will be responsible for more advanced application, telecom or technology support duties. You will investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex problems that have typically been escalated several levels before assignment to this position, and will translate business requirements into technical requirements for a solution and recommend a potential approach to the vendor. You will analyse the solution provided to ensure that it fits both technical requirements and business needs. You will also spend time on project or initiative leadership and delivery.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered (e.g., a diploma or degree in Laboratory Medicine with significant IT experience). Background in Transfusion Medicine workflows, with working knowledge of Transfusion Medicine functions and reporting within both Alberta Precision Laboratories and Connect Care. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Transfusion Services. Training or experience with WellSky Transfusion. Training or experience with WellSky Reporting. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; an ability to resolve technical issues and identify root cause. Strong communication and technical documentation skills. Experience developing test plans, coordinating and executing testing activities, with a solid understanding of formal change management processes. Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholder groups, including clinicians, laboratory staff, management, and vendors. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and within virtual teams. Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and computer work. Willingness to travel within Alberta; occasional travel to the United States may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting system implementations, projects, or IT operations. Knowledge of healthcare system integration (HL7). Experience with relational databases (SQL).
