Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience with development, implementation, facilitation & evaluation of education materials & programming. Proven exemplary communication, interpersonal & organization skills. Demonstrated leadership & teamwork abilities, including ability to: work effectively in a self-directed environment; work with various partners & having decision making responsibilities & inspire, influence, change, build confidence in others & use critical thinking to guide decisions. Experience with Palliative & End of Life care & related best practices. The CNE will be based out of one network office with travel among sites. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge & proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand & navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook & Internet. Physically capable of performing nursing tasks which could include transfer of clients. The successful candidate will work independently in clients’ homes, which could include congregate settings, single family dwellings, condos &/or walk-up apartments. Therefore, the successful candidate must be able to work in different settings & environments (home environments & weather conditions), as well as be able to lift & carry medical bags, which weigh approximately 30-45 lbs. Possibility of shift work & extended hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in nursing is preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community sector will be considered. Post graduate studies or certification in adult education, gerontology, chronic disease management and/or palliative care would be an asset. Minimum 3 years nursing experience and/or clinical educator experience in a community setting preferred. Current working knowledge of Meditech, Connect Care and Pixalere an asset.
