Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
Additional Required Qualifications:Well-informed with completing preventive maintenance and use of digital maintenance programs including checking & recording new equipment. Experience maintaining, commissioning, installation, monitoring, trouble shooting, analyzing performance, and repairing equipment and systems. Seasoned/Specialized technical/professional experience required with 3 to 5 years' experience in healthcare is ideal. Minimum of 5 years of experience in repair and maintenance and operation of a wide range of industrial plant, rotating and rolling stock equipment including diesel generators, Patient Lifts, Beds, Motors, specialized healthcare equipment etc. There is a very wide variety of complex equipment present in the hospital environment which is maintained by the Industrial Mechanic therefore the Industrial Mechanic must have extensive experience in this area. Considerable initiative and judgement involved. Incumbent is allowed considerable use of judgement in solving technical problems arising in day-to-day operations. Testing adjustment and repair of rotating and rolling stock equipment. In addition to knowledge related to the Industrial Mechanic trade, some familiarity, education and experience in the areas related to Machinist, Heavy Duty Mechanic and Welder trades is required. Knowledge of General Safety Service Act relating to Plant Operations and associated regulations. Writing reports. Strong computer skills. Regular lifting of items up to 23Kg (50Lbs) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Valid First aid would be an asset. Valid Fit testing certificate would be an asset. Valid Fall arrest and aerial platform training would be an asset.
