Human Resources Business Partnerships (HRBP) Team is excited to offer a temporary HR Advisor position within the North Zone of AHS located in Grande Prairie, Spruce Grove, Westlock, Fort McMurray. As the HRBP team operates in a hybrid working environment, the successful candidate must be able to attend to their client sites and ideally reside with easy accessibility to the North Zone. We seek individuals with HR Advisor or generalist experience to be responsible for providing proactive HR consultation, recommendations, and services to AHS leaders. You will work with a high degree of independence and in collaboration with HR Specialists and Centres of Expertise to plan and implement HR processes that complement related policies, legislation, and collective agreements. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services Northern Incentive Program: AHS currently has a Northern Incentive Program in place for communities above the 55th parallel. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Depending on where the successful applicant resides, you may qualify for a Northern Incentive Payment.
Description:
The HR Advisor works to ensure AHS and HR values, goals and principles are implemented and integrated in the delivery of HR services for all AHS leaders, employees, physicians and volunteers. The successful candidate will support clients by advising, coordinating, coaching and providing recommendations on a variety of human resource functions and related operations. AHS consists of a 90% unionized and 10% non-union employee workforce, so you will need to be familiar with processes for both employee groups. You will have a strong understanding of employee and labor relations; performance management; ability management; grievance management; and interpretation of collective agreements. You will also provide consultation on talent management, job classification and compensation in addition to other related HR tasks, duties and responsibilities. As the HR Advisor, and with the support and mentorship of the HRBP team, you will provide HR expertise to your assigned clients by advising, coordinating, coaching, and providing strategic direction on a variety of human resource functions with an enhanced focus on workforce initiatives and people management as it relates to investigations, performance management, grievances, and conflict resolution as well as support of workforce related initiatives. In order to be effective in this role, you will have a proven track record of fostering and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with team members, operational leaders, HR networks, Centers of Expertise, and Union representatives. You are adaptable with the ability to prioritize, multitask while working effectively independently in collaboration with others in a fast paced and progressive environment. You will interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard issues and requests including engagement of HR specialists as required.

A minimum of post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related area. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
Additional Required Qualifications:Effective communicator with strong analytical skills, organizational skills, influential skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and comfortable managing in ambiguity. A strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals. Experience in managing projects of different scope, magnitude and significance. Demonstrated experience in performance management, labour relations, policy interpretation, Human Rights Legislation and investigations.
Preferred Qualifications:CPHR or other recognized designation. A minimum of two years’ experience in an HR advisor/consultant or generalist position. Previous experience in an organization of similar size and complexity. Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
