Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Health Promotion, Public or Population Health, Health Education or a related field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

This work involves providing training of facilitators, coaching, and mentoring to professional and community responders and health/service providers to increase Alberta’s pool of disaster psychosocial facilitators. It involves supporting community development initiatives, collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders in project or program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement. This role aims to support disaster psychosocial literacy through training and education; identifying, understanding and addressing the behavioral, social, political, economic, environmental and organizational factors that promote or compromise the mental health of impacted communities and to recommend evidence-informed strategies/ and or approaches to address identified priorities. This work can involve conducting situational analyses, literature reviews, environmental scans and focus groups to make recommendations for integrated program planning and evaluation processes. It also requires the ability to manage projects using standardized tools and techniques that are conducive or aligned with health promotion practices. AHS trained in PFA, E-prep, HeartMath, and Wellness Exchange is required. Understanding of the disaster psychosocial capacity approach and having disaster response experience, community-based experience, and especially disaster response and recovery experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

3-5 years relevant applied experience in mental health promotion/mental illness prevention/population public health/community-based experience. Group facilitation skills (e.g., chairing meetings, teaching, facilitating workshops). Knowledge and application of project management skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Demonstrated strong writing skills for many purposes and audiences (example requested).
