Health Promotion Facilitator
Your Opportunity:
AHS is looking for a collaborative individual with community health and partnership experience to join the role of Health Promotion Facilitator (HPF) in the South Zone. The HPF will support the Healthier Together Initiative and other AHS priority initiatives that promote community development and healthy settings. Healthier Together strengthens partnerships and collaboration through governance, intersectoral partnerships and participation by priority populations at the local level. This position coordinates efforts to support population-based interventions and integrates health equity considerations in partnership with local and AHS partners. The Health Promotion Facilitator plays a key role in facilitating engagement, planning and community action to create/enhance environments that promote health and prevent disease. This position collaborates with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams and departments, municipal government, community partners, and external agencies to support optimal health and well-being of individuals, groups, communities, and populations. The Health Promotion Facilitator is responsible for facilitating the Healthier Together Initiative at the local level in Lethbridge and requires knowledge and experience with community development, partnership building and the Healthier Together approach. This position is part of the South Zone with a primary focus of providing in person support to the community of Lethbridge. The Health Promotion Facilitator will work closely with the City of Lethbridge and local partners and will support collaboration and connection with diverse stakeholders. This position works closely with internal provincial and zone teams in alignment with the Healthier Together Initiative Governance Structure to ensure consistency of approach across settings, share learnings and strengthen collective measurement of outcomes.
Description:
As a Health Promotion Facilitator I, you will assist communities to be healthier through mentoring, advocacy and education. You will link individuals and/or communities to relevant health resources within the region or province and work with community partners to access, plan, implement and evaluate health promotion strategies. You will participate in special studies and/or research projects and review health-related data and identify trends relative to population health and at risk groups. You will facilitate the development and/or implementation of program specific guidelines in partnership with other stakeholders. You will plan, develop and facilitate workshops, seminars and presentations for staff and communities. You will prepare work plans, budgets and year end reports and provide input for departmental goals and strategies.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Health Education or a related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Health Education or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:1-2 years’ experience working in a public health/health promotion or community health setting. 1-2 years’ experience working in partnership with community groups and agencies preferred. Tobacco Reduction training (i.e. TRAC, Quit Core) and experience in cessation programming is an asset. Knowledge of injury prevention programs and strategies an asset - particularly in senior's health and seniors falls prevention.
