Health Educator I - Physiotherapist
Your Opportunity:
We are looking for a Health Educator I- Physiotherapy (PT) to join our Facility and Supportive Living (FSL) team. We provide care and support to adults and seniors residing in congregate living settings. FSL is a non-institutional alternative for those who are no longer able to live in their own home, which focuses on health promotion, well-being, independence and maintaining functional abilities. As a Health Educator I-PT you will provide leadership in clinical practice for clients in FSL. This position works to enhance client care outcomes and staff professional development through expert clinical practice, administration, consultation, research and education. The successful candidate will function as a leader, innovator and change agent in the pursuit of excellence in client care, supporting staff and encouraging evidence-informed practice related to physiotherapy practice and collaborative practice with a multi-disciplinary team. This position supports a team-based, collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to client care. The successful candidate will also assist with change management and system transformation initiatives, facilitating training and assisting with building community partnerships. It requires participation in provincial clinical working groups. The successful candidate will be required to maintain competence in advanced clinical practice relevant to Supportive and facility Living and act as a consultant to staff/management regarding clinical issues. The position also requires the ability to influence and support a culture of professional growth and assist with the assessment of education needs of staff and the identification of appropriate resources.
Description:
As a Health Educator, you will promote existing courses, as well as develop, coordinate and deliver educational activities to support staff learning based on a patient-centered care model. You will collaborate with Health Educators from all the Zones and relevant initiatives.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the applicable college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Responsible to provide proof of active registration with professional regulatory college, and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment. Basic cardiac life support - healthcare provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Experience using the principles of adult learning to conduct education sessions, in-services and program development implementation and evaluation is required. Interested candidate must be highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to mentor staff in direct clinical skill development, and electronic documentation. The successful candidate must be able to work in different settings and environments (congregate settings, all weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carry professional bags, weighing approximately 25-30 lbs. Required to bend, pull, lift, and perform various movements and position changes from sitting on floor doing activities with clients, families, and colleagues to working at a computer for extended time periods.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous educator experience; demonstrated ability to lead staff, projects, and/or initiatives. Computer knowledge/skills in Connect Care, & Outlook. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to mentor, support professional relationships, lead change, and participate in conflict resolution. Experience working with adult and geriatric population in continuing care environments. Enhanced clinical skills in area of practice/discipline.
