Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Understand the HCA role within the health system, and the range and boundaries that apply to that role. Demonstrate an understanding of the health care team’s responsibility to advocate and support the client to achieve optimal quality of life. Provide individualized, age appropriate person-centered care, with a focus on physical, psychological, social, emotional, cognitive, cultural, and spiritual support to complete activities of daily living. Demonstrate respect, dignity and compassion by understanding the resident’s strengths, needs, rights, preferences, expectations, and their willingness and ability to participate in care. Ensure and promote the resident’s ability to guide and participate in their own care to the greatest degree possible. Demonstrate an understanding of the resident’s care plan and the role of the HCA in implementing the care plan. Demonstrate organizational, time management and problem solving skills. Utilize feedback and self-reflection to continuously improve knowledge, skills, behavior and attitude. Demonstrate knowledge of common effects of aging and effects of acute and chronic health conditions. Demonstrate an ability to care for residents with cognitive and/or mental health and additions challenges. Demonstrate initiative, actively seek learning opportunities and be open to learning. Recognize the importance of personal wellness and self-care, and use strategies to promote personal well-being.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 1 year clinical experience applicable to the service area(s). Supportive Pathways and/or U-First training. Knowledge of computer applications is an asset.
