Your Opportunity:

Join the team at George McDougall – Smoky Lake Healthcare as a Health Care Aide (HCA) who supports clients with front line personal care and emotional support. This role involves working across all units as part of an interdisciplinary team, following individualized care plans and a holistic, person and family centred care approach. The HCA builds respectful partnerships with clients, families, and coworkers to support dignity, participation in care, and positive client outcomes. Strong, sincere communication and accurate documentation are essential. The role also requires the physical ability to perform duties involving bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, supporting clients, and other routine physical tasks. Smoky Lake offers an appealing lifestyle for families and individuals seeking a safe, slower paced environment with a strong sense of community. Located on Treaty 6 territory and the traditional lands of the Métis, with the Métis Crossing cultural destination nearby, the area reflects a rich Indigenous history and ongoing presence. Smoky Lake is known for its tight knit and welcoming atmosphere, where residents often know their neighbours and actively support local events, making it easy to feel connected and involved. For those who prefer peace and space over traffic and noise, Smoky Lake is an excellent fit. Offering less congestion, a slower pace of life, and open skies surrounded by farmland, making it especially appealing to people who find city life stressful or overwhelming. The surrounding area provides abundant year-round outdoor recreation, all without the need for long drives. Combined with an affordable cost of living, including lower housing prices and property taxes compared to larger urban centres, Smoky Lake is an attractive place to live, work, and raise a family.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance by supporting activities of daily living and delivering support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this role, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, and health care facilities. You will assist nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs; assist with organized activities or programs; and observe and report on patients' mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under the supervision of a regulated health professional, you will assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while supporting effective communication with patients and health care professionals. PLEASE NOTE: Until a new hire provides proof of HCA certification, they will be paid at the uncertified pay grade in accordance with the AUPE AUX Collective Agreement.
