Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible for registration or practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, along with proof of education or completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be a graduate of an educational program that uses the Provincial Curriculum for Health Care Aides or have met the criteria outlined in the Substantially Equivalent Competency Guidelines. Active registration with CLHA. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is required. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction when required. Effective verbal and written English communication skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with patients/clients, families, visitors, and team members. Medication Assistance Certificate or previous experience providing medication assistance. Previous experience in the health care field and working with older adults or chronically ill individuals is preferred. Well-developed time management and organizational skills. This position requires regular travel of up to 100 kilometers per day to provide care and support to clients in their homes and throughout rural communities. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle in good working condition are mandatory requirements for this role. The position is physically demanding and involves routine lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, and pulling as part of daily client care activities. Responsibilities may include assisting clients with transfers and passive exercises, which can require lifting up to 30 pounds while providing safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous community or Home Care experience. Medication assistance experience. Ability to work independently in a community setting. Proficiency with iPhone technology, computers, and email applications.
