Required Qualifications:

Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Health Care Aides (HCAs) are regulated health professionals who must meet the hiring, education, and licensure requirements established by the College of LPNs & HCAs (CLHA), the CLHA determines education, certification, registration, and licensure requirements in accordance with the Health Professions Act (HPA). HCAs are responsible for maintaining active registration and meeting ongoing regulatory requirements, including entry-to-practice standards, continuing competence expectations, and adherence to the CLHA Code of Ethics. The candidate must have BCLS-HCP from Heart and Stroke Foundation within the last 12 months. The candidate must have Basic First Aid (Level 1) within the last 36 months. The candidate must be effective in verbal and written English, have well developed time management skills, demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills with patients/clients, families, visitors and team members. This candidate must demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team. Preferred Qualifications:

Handling, moving and lifting heavy up to 50lbs of awkward equipment and/or individuals are required for this position. Preference is given to candidates who have minimum one year Home Care and/or long-term care experience.
