Required Qualifications:

Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Health Care Aides (HCAs) are regulated health professionals who must meet the hiring, education, & licensure requirements established by the College of LPNs & HCAs (CLHA), the CLHA determines education, certification, registration, & licensure requirements in accordance with the Health Professions Act (HPA). HCAs are responsible for maintaining active registration & meeting ongoing regulatory requirements, including entry-to-practice standards, continuing competence expectations, & adherence to the CLHA Code of Ethics. The candidate must have Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) from Heart & Stroke Foundation within the last 12 months. The candidate must have Basic First Aid (Level 1). The candidate must be effective in verbal & written English, have well developed time management skills, demonstrates effective interpersonal & communication skills with patients/clients, families, visitors & team members. You will work closely with patients, families, & caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community, or health care facilities. This candidate must demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team. Handling, moving & lifting heavy up to 50lbs of awkward equipment and/or individuals are required for this position. Provides Housekeeping services that are essential to the Client's Activities of Daily Living in their immediate living space to increase the prospects for maintaining the client in their Home/Community.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference is given to candidates who have minimum one year Home Care and/or long-term care experience. Please note this position is approximately Diamond Valley- 67 km SW outside of Calgary City Limits.
