Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1-year recent (within 3-5 years) surgical experience. BCLS-HCP Heart Saver program required. Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Able to communicate effectively with patients and staff and understand nursing instructions. Organize and deliver safe care to patients. Demonstrates accountability in their practice. Work independently but maintain collaborative, effective work relationships with hospital staff. Demonstrate understanding, patience and sensitivity when relating to patients, families and visitors. Able to utilize AHS acute care and hospital policy and procedure manuals online. Considerable standing and walking required. Ability to assist with lifting, turning and transferring adult patients. It’s your move (IYM) certification. Ability to lift and carry supplies is required. Basic computer skills necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:Connect Care Training. Previous work experience in an acute care hospital.
