Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Supportive Pathways/P.I.E.C.E. S course. Palliative Care course/experience. NVCI course. It’s Your Move course. Medication Assistance Program (MAP). Foot care course/experience. Vital Signs. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Have great time management and organization abilities in order to balance different priorities at once. Availability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends is a requirement for this position. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks. You have an opportunity to contribute as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team; demonstrating excellent creativity and resourcefulness with the ability to think on your feet with little direction. Being able to provide friendly and sincere emotional support by being a good listener and interacting in a positive and optimistic manner is critical to ensuring patient centered care as a HCA. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Preferred Qualifications:

Computer proficiency, with Connect Care, Rai-HC and Microsoft programs. Minimum 1 year of Health Care Aide experience in Seniors Health over the past 3 years is preferred. Any other educational courses and seminars that benefit excellent seniors care is always an asset.
