Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum 1 year experience as a HCA in an acute inpatient medical or surgical nursing unit within the last 2 years. New grads who have completed a final practicum in an acute medical or surgical nursing unit may be considered. Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting. Foundational understanding of IPC standards within AHS. Basic Knowledge of computers and software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office).
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 3 years’ experience as a HCA within the last 5 years in an acute inpatient surgical or medical nursing unit. Previous Regularized Relief Float Team experience as a HCA. Experience with electronic documentation using Connect Care (Epic). Completion of It’s Your Move training.
