Description:
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate occupational health and safety programs and processes within your assigned portfolio. You will collaborate with workers, leaders, departments, sites, programs, and partners to interpret complex and time sensitive needs, assess requirements, and identify effective, innovative solutions. In this role, you will apply subject matter expertise, leadership, and project and change management skills to provide best practice recommendations, guidance, and resources that support organizational and legislative requirements. You will also contribute to the coordination and delivery of educational tools and resources as well as perform on site duties including respirator fit testing, supporting inspections, incident investigations, and participation in Joint Workplace Health and Safety Committees.

Degree, diploma, or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways: Completion of a recognized Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) certificate with 3–5 years of health and safety consultant, generalist or advisor experience; or An OHS diploma with 1–3 years of health and safety related experience; or A related degree (such as kinesiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, occupational hygiene, industrial hygiene, or environmental health) with up to 2 years of health and safety related experience; or A Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation, with relevant occupational health and safety education and experience. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated Occupational Health & Safety knowledge of legislation and best practices in healthcare or complex unionized settings. Experience with ergonomics, fit-testing, JWHSC support, incident investigations, corrective actions, and exposure/hygiene assessments. Strong data analysis, communication, collaboration, report writing, and training facilitation skills.
