Your Opportunity:
The Workplace Health & Safety Advisor in the Workplace Health & Safety department is a professional position reporting to the Manager, WHS Business Partnerships. The incumbent works with a high degree of independence and in concert with the Manager to plan and implement Occupational Safety programs and processes. The incumbent will develop and manage various initiatives and/or programs and provide ongoing client support between individuals, departments, sites and operational program groups. The incumbent will provide leadership to their portfolio to develop a strategy for the coordination and delivery of educational tools/resources and leads the implementation of assigned projects and programs aimed at protecting and enhancing the health, safety and wellness of workers. The incumbent will interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard issues and requests. The incumbent works to ensure values, goals and principles are implemented and integrated in the delivery of services to client groups as well as compliance with applicable legislation. The incumbent is also responsible for: Delivering programs and services to staff and line managers to meet their needs, e.g. occupational hygiene and safety issues, and consultation when required. Identifying potential hazards and communicating the associated risks, as appropriate to ensure the health and safety of all concerned. Supporting operational leaders in responding to situations that arise, including those that require immediate attention and/or expertise. Providing input into the needs of staff and line managers for health promotion, safety, hygiene, ergonomic and disease/injury prevention programs, Educating and training of staff in WHS regulations, policies and programs. Acting as an expert resource to various partners.

We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join the WHS Business Partnerships team. Reporting to the Manager, WHS Business Partnerships, this professional role operates with a high degree of independence while collaborating closely with team members to plan and implement Occupational Safety programs and processes. The Advisor develops and manages initiatives and provides ongoing support across individuals, departments, sites, and programs. This role provides leadership in developing strategies, coordinating educational resources, and implementing projects that protect and enhance worker health, safety, and wellness. The Advisor assesses client needs, interprets requirements, and identifies solutions to unique or complex issues while ensuring organizational values and goals are reflected in service delivery. Key responsibilities include: Delivering programs and services related to occupational hygiene, safety issues, and consultation. Identifying hazards and communicating associated risks to support safe work environments. Supporting leaders in responding to situations requiring immediate attention or expertise. Providing input into health promotion, safety, hygiene, ergonomic, and injury/disease prevention needs. Educating and training staff on WHS regulations, policies, and programs. Serving as an expert resource to partners and stakeholders.

A minimum of a degree/diploma/certification in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline and CRSP designation. If CRSP not present, candidate must already be enrolled in an accredited program with commitment to complete within 2 years must be provided. A minimum of 3 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset). In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Facilitation/coordination experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Significant experience in problem solving, concerns resolution, investigation, and negotiation. Team leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to foster relationships/partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective communicator with strong organizational & influencing skills, client-focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult situations. Adaptable to constant change.
Additional Required Qualifications:
A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Extensive knowledge of the client group / function supported and best practices applicable to Workplace Health & Safety. Experience in coaching leaders. Ability to develop and facilitate presentations to convey information or transfer knowledge. Experience managing physical and human resources and related financial / statistical information. Demonstrated ability to facilitate change. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in coordinating research projects or teams, complex data analysis and/or interpretation, evaluation methodologies, and developing formal reports.
