Your Opportunity:

The Bob Glasgow Grief Support Centre has been supporting bereaved Calgarians for more than 25 years through counselling, groups and education. This Casual role offers an opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team that provides a range of bereavement support within the Grief Support Program as a Lead Facilitator of psycho-educational grief groups and education sessions. This position also provides mentorship and supervision to volunteer group facilitators and possibly students. Responsibilities may also include participation in program planning regarding the delivery of educational services and groups for the program. Additionally, you will support the provision of education to health care providers and community members related to grief and loss. This position requires specialized knowledge of grief, loss, trauma and bereavement. The ideal candidate will have experience in working directly with bereaved individuals in a supportive counselling or group facilitation environment. Experience working with, and training volunteers, in a counselling environment is also desired. Familiarity and experience in supporting clients through a Trauma Informed approach will be considered an asset. Description:

As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology, or an equivalent level of education and experience will be considered. Registered with their applicable professional college/association. Experience supporting psycho educational groups.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficiency and experience using Connect Care. Experience supporting clients in Grief and Bereavement. Knowledge and application of Grief theories and process. Familiarity of a Trauma Informed approach to supporting clients. Experience with adult education. Experience with group processes.
