Financial Analyst
Your Opportunity:
The Financial Analyst position is part of the Finance Shared Services, Billing Cash and Collections department, and provides financial, analytical, and project support services to Financial Operations. The role is responsible for developing and preparing financial and operational reports, conducting variance and trend analysis, evaluating business processes, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. This position contributes directly to the Finance Department's objectives by ensuring business processes are efficient, effective, and aligned with organizational requirements. Duties include but are not limited to: Prepare and maintain financial and operational reports for management based on information provided by program areas and Financial Operations. Collect, validate, and analyze data from various sources to ensure accuracy and completeness. Develop recurring and ad hoc reports to support operational and strategic decision-making. Identify reporting trends and highlight areas requiring management attention. Ensure reports are produced in a timely and consistent manner. Perform variance analysis on financial and operational reports. Investigate significant variances, trends, and anomalies. Identify potential risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Analyze business processes to assess effectiveness and efficiency. Prepare reports outlining findings, recommendations, and expected outcomes for management consideration. Participate in and support departmental and cross-functional projects. Conduct research, data analysis, and reporting activities related to project objectives. Assist in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Develop a working knowledge of operational processes to support future analysis and recommendations. Other duties as assigned.
Description:
As a Financial Analyst, you will perform routine financial analysis including preparation, analysis and reporting of financial information in accordance with general accounting practices, processes, controls and policies and procedures. Your responsibilities include variance analysis, month end and year end activities, reconciliation of multiple accounts, project support and business support to operating portfolios.

Completion of post-secondary diploma specializing in Accounting or related field (e.g. Economics, Statistics).
Additional Required Qualifications:Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. To successfully perform the responsibilities of this position, the incumbent must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting methodologies, and variance analysis techniques. Ability to analyze complex financial and operational data, identify trends, and provide meaningful recommendations. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Understanding of process improvement concepts and business process analysis methodologies. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to prepare accurate, detailed, and professional reports. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and customer service excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:One to two years of accounting, financial analysis, financial administration, or related experience is preferred. Experience within a healthcare environment is considered an asset. Experience working with financial management systems, databases, and reporting tools is an asset. Preference will be given to candidates actively pursuing or holding a professional accounting designation such as CPA (formerly CMA, CGA, or CA).
