Family Counsellor
Your Opportunity:
Rural West Recovery Alberta Child & Youth Program has a unique opportunity for a Family Counsellor to join our team! The Family Counsellor is responsible for providing assessment/diagnosis, treatment services and follow-up treatment services and follow-up (in person as well as virtually) to a varied caseload consisting of individuals and families who are experiencing distress related to moderate to severe mental illness. There is an opportunity to travel to Rural West Clinics for client services and peer consultations. This is a specialized discipline working from a systemic theoretical and experiential background. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals. Collaborating with Rural West's overarching Children's Team. In addition, support with groups and solution-focused single-session client work may be added to the position’s responsibilities. You understand the complex relationships between the youth's physical, emotional, mental, developmental and spiritual health. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of one of the following programs: master's degree in Psychology; master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization), master's degree in marriage and family therapy, including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy.
Preferred Qualifications:Additional post-graduate experiences working with children, youth and families with complex needs.
