Family Counsellor
Your Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Manager, the Calgary Eating Disorder Program, and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the Family Counsellor will provide assessment, treatment/case management to clients who are dealing with an eating disorder and their families. Primary modalities of treatment include family and group therapy. Position is based at ACH (day treatment services), however, supports treatment services at RRDTC (outpatient services) and FMC (inpatient services) as required. Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Maintains clinical records and completes workload measurement statistics in a timely and efficient manner. Utilizes standardized tests and measures to supplement clinical interviewing as required. Acts as a case manager, ensuring needed professional referrals are made, information is shared appropriately, and an integrated approach to the treatment is followed. Carries an advanced clinical caseload and as such offers treatment in the form of individual, family and group therapy, for clients with an eating disorder and their families. Participates in both clinical and administrative team meetings. Performs other related duties as delegated. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Masters’ degree in a Mental Health related discipline. Registration in relevant professional association recognized by Alberta’s Health Profession Act (e.g. ACSW, College of Alberta Psychologists). Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience and excellence in family, group and individual therapy in a mental health/psychiatric setting; preferably with adolescents and young adults coping with an eating disorder. Experience working collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Experience in family therapy and family assessment. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Creative, flexible, collaborative systems thinker. Knowledge about evaluation strategies and outcome research. Strong computer skills. Strong family therapy skills essential.
Preferred Qualifications:Advanced family therapy and group therapy skills are an asset. Experience managing a large case list is an asset. Experience with case management and working on a multi disciplinary team is an asset.
