Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Program Manager, of NW Campus, the Family Counsellor will be working at the Women Mental Health clinic. This position will contribute to a team of dynamic, innovative and committed, Therapists, Nurses, Psychiatrists, Administrative / Clerical support staff. The candidate must have well developed assessment and therapeutic intervention skills, a solid grounding in a family systems framework with a proven ability to provide evidence-based treatment. Participation in program development, evaluation and some clinical supervision is required. The position requires strong collaborative skills, an understanding of the value of partnerships and the connection with community partners and the ability to coordinate service delivery with other AHS services/staff. As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to take initiative and demonstrate reliability and flexibility

Description:

As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Psychology or Social Work (clinical specialization) who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization with considerable experience in mental health assessment & provision of psychotherapy. Master’s degree in Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Strong, demonstrated knowledge, skills and independent experience use and application of DSM-V diagnoses. A minimum 5 years in community mental health setting providing MH treatment for adult who have complex mental health issues. Ability to manage a varied caseload and complete work in a timely manner, work from a patient & family centered perspective within diverse populations and handle crisis & stressful situations in a calm facilitative manner. Must have family therapy skills, supplemented by strong communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively & contribute positively to change in emerging services/programs. Ability to provide evidence informed treatment within a brief, episodic model of care. Experience providing Trauma Informed care and working with Trauma. Experience providing expert clinical consultation to professionals and working with diverse populations. Proficient in using Windows, E-mail, Microsoft Office (including Excel) and typing.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience providing group therapy.
