Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

This position requires a master's degree in the Social Sciences (Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Family Therapy) with the successful candidate being a member in good standing of their associated regulatory body. The incumbent must have an extensive working knowledge of, and be skilled in, the treatment of substance use, problem gambling, and mental health related concerns including the ability to apply a variety of counselling styles and therapeutic interventions. A valid Alberta driver’s license is required, as is access to a reliable vehicle as travel between work sites and to client appointments in the community is necessary. Current First Aid/BCLS-HCP, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention training are required. Ability to function effectively in dynamic situations, and remain accountable. Demonstrated conflict resolution and change management skills. Demonstrated ability to be creative, flexible, well-organized, efficient, self-directed, dependable, and a collaborative systems thinker.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years direct Counselling experience in addictions and mental health preferred. Previous related experience and knowledge of Aboriginal culture and the developmental stages of young adults are definite assets.
