Bring your passion, dedication, and leadership expertise to Alberta Health Services (AHS) as the Site Executive Director (ED) for the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) portfolio, which includes the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (MAZ) and Kaye Edmonton Clinic (KEC). Description:

Reporting to the Senior Operating Officer, University of Alberta Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute and Kaye Edmonton Clinic, you will be accountable for leading overall site operations linking the UAH operational and provincial site portfolios towards achieving common goals in a complex and multifaceted environment. As the Site Executive Director, you'll be the major point of contact for all initiatives and issues affecting the site as a whole. You will be accountable for the strategic, clinical, and operational leadership across various domains, including clinical care, capacity and patient flow management, infrastructure, space utilization, facility maintenance, and continuous improvement. You will coordinate site surge plans and emergency management response assuming the role of site commander, in addition to overseeing accreditation, workplace health and safety, and infection prevention control standards. Working with the Facility Medical Director you will collaborate with site, zone and provincial leaders, overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of cross site, strategic and operational plans. You are instrumental in providing clinical teams with the necessary tools, processes, and environment essential for safe high-quality patient care, linking with Protective Services to ensure staff, physicians and patients are safe. Leading both directly and by influence, you will champion cross site engagement, collaboration, and innovation, creating positive working relationships while encouraging and advancing a culture of safety, diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity. You will be a team player, bringing a strong and experienced voice to the senior leadership table, achieving value-based business results, organizational goals, and strategic vision.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate possesses a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare profession and a clinical acute care background. A minimum of five (5) years’ successful progressive experience in an operational leadership role in a health care organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity is required.

You have the ability to lead others towards a common vision and deliver on promised actions and outcomes. You have demonstrated success in developing and leading strong, high performing teams, creating a culture of engagement, collaboration, inclusion and caring with a continual focus on person centered care. You have led change with and through people, creating and inspiring innovative solutions and ideas for complex and diverse issues, and service delivery. A relationship builder, you have proven success developing partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across the continuum of care and beyond, including foundations, university/colleges, public agencies, and others. You have demonstrated your commitment to continuous quality improvement and learning and excel at human and fiscal resource management. Your successful record of achievement as a leader includes your collaborative leadership skills as per the LEADS in a caring environment framework including demonstrated excellence in leading self, engaging others, developing coalitions, and achieving results.


Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree in health services leadership, business administration, or evidence of working to completion of the same. Previous Director/Executive Director experience leading acute care site programs.
