Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Electrician Certificate with Red Seal from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's Licence.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience with electrical distribution, switchgear & breakers, transformers and emergency power systems. Must be qualified under terms of the Provincial Fire Code to inspect, test and maintain fire alarm systems. Minimum five years’ experience as journeyman with operation, maintenance and installation of electrical systems. Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to operate & troubleshoot building systems and plant equipment along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and other O&M documentation. Must be able to work under pressure and solve complex operational issues. Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Must work well with others as well as independently. Ensure safe work procedures, policy, and departmental procedures are followed. Assist in the design and implementation of capital projects and construction, review drawings and specifications to make recommendations or change proposals. Effective computer skills required (email, spreadsheet, computer based applications, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those with previous experience with operations, maintenance and installation of electrical equipment in health care facilities or major institutional/commercial buildings.
