Required Qualifications:

University Degree required in a related area. Management experience and demonstrated experience in a leadership role is required.


Additional Required Qualifications:

3 to 5 years experience in the field of emergency and disaster management; able to provide subject matter expertise and conveyance of knowledge to AHS staff and leaders. Minimum of 5 years experience in a managerial / leadership role including: Management of human resources (motivating, developing, and directing people). Management of material resources. Trained in ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 300 and EOC operations; experience in the use of ICS in an EOC or Command Post environment. Knowledge of, and experience in use of, adult learning principles. Advanced oral and written communication skills; active listener. Complex problem-solving and decision-making skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Critical thinking skills; uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Negotiation skills; bring others together to reconcile differences. Active learner; striving to remain current; understanding the implications and value of new information. Social and political perceptiveness; service oriented. Competent advanced computer-based skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet-based research essential; knowledge of Visio desirable.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s level educational preparation strongly preferred. Experience in a health care field or profession desired. Professional designation and / or registration an asset.
