Coordinator
Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of the IPC Director, Calgary Zone and working in collaboration with Project Managers and other Coordinators from across the province, you will assist with the development and expansion of the hand hygiene and personal protective equipment work in Calgary. Your key responsibilities will include training and evaluating new hand hygiene reviewers from across Calgary and the province, training staff on proper use of PPE and development of new education modules and training resources. New employees to the IPC program will be required to work all workdays at their assigned location on-site, for the first 3-6 months. Duration to be determined by the IPC leadership team.
Description:
The position is responsible for training and supporting site and/or program based staff who perform IPC-related functions such as hand hygiene reviews and personal protective equipment (PPE) coaching. The successful candidate will offer support either in person or virtual to multiple sites and programs within their assigned corridor to complete their assigned duties. They will provide information to unit and site leadership as required. The candidate may be asked to participate in the delivery of specific components of IPC education (such as PPE and hand hygiene), or other project work as time allows. Some travel outside their corridor may be required. This position reports to the IPC Zone Director, works closely with the IPC Project Manager and will collaborate with zone IPC staff. In addition, support expands to AHS contracted service providers, including continuing care and long-term care facilities and hospices in addition to partner Provincial Health Agencies such as Recovery Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta and Primary Care Alberta. The candidate may also perform quality reviews using standardized tools and methods across the continuum of care as required.

High school diploma plus applicable post-secondary education, preferably in a health related field. Incumbent will be required to train on AHS hand hygiene review programs, AHS hand hygiene policy and procedure and other review programs as required. Ability to multitask, work independently and to collaborate with partners is essential. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are required. Experience with technology and software: Microsoft Office, iPads, workstations and laptops. Experience in healthcare, preferably working with front line staff. Knowledge of the chain of infection and routine practices. Knowledge of standards applicable to the position. Experience with delivering training/education through online software such as Microsoft Teams and/or Zoom. Position requires travel to sites and facilities across the zone. Equivalencies of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in conducting reviews, audits or inspections and preparing entry level reports an asset. Experience with training and/or education in a healthcare setting.
