Coordinator
Your Opportunity:
You’re a caring, respectful, and organized leader who ensures our volunteers have meaningful ways to contribute to local health care sites. Volunteers visit with patients, assist with department programs as requested, help patients and families navigate their way to specific locations, and bring their skills and talents to our facilities. As the Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll work with the Manager, Volunteer Resources, to develop, execute, coordinate and evaluate standardized work methods, following established policies and procedures related to best practices of volunteer management. Working with staff, you will ensure volunteers support a patient-and family-centred model as you develop volunteer activities, ensuring client needs and concerns are seamlessly addressed in a timely and professional manner. As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will be responsible for orientation, education, recognition, evaluation, and administration of site-based volunteer programs. You will participate in various site and department meetings to develop working relationships with staff liaisons and ensure efficient Volunteer operations, as well as meeting with community groups that support the work of Volunteer Resources. You will maintain an up-to-date database, ensuring volunteers are compliant with AHS guideline standards in health screening, criminal record checks, orientation, ongoing education and incident reporting.
Description:
In this role, you will provide direction to healthcare professionals on effectively matching volunteer motivations with program needs while working collaboratively across multiple healthcare pillars to develop meaningful volunteer programs. In collaboration with clinical educators, you will assist in the delivery of department-specific training opportunities for volunteers by adhering to best practices and implementing departmental processes and procedures. Working closely with the staff team, you will ensure established volunteer program outcomes are achieved and support a patient and family-centred model of care as you design and evolve volunteer initiatives. You will ensure client needs, concerns, and issues are addressed in a timely, professional, and seamless manner. You will remain informed of emerging trends and innovative methodologies in volunteer and human resources management and will conduct ongoing evaluations of volunteer programs to support continuous improvement. Through an appreciative and supportive approach, you will provide both formal and informal recognition to volunteers in acknowledgment of their individual contributions. By participating in site and department meetings and committees, you will support the efficient and effective operation of Volunteer Resources services. This includes attending facility and community meetings to build strong working relationships with staff liaisons who support and supervise volunteers, as well as delivering presentations to increase departmental awareness and to inform, educate, and recruit.
