Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Coordinator is a key leadership role within the Centralized Associate Physicians and Physician Assistants Program in the Calgary Corridor. The successful candidate will support management of the AP and PA workforce, ensuring effective recruitment, utilization, and coverage to meet patient care needs across acute care sites.

Description:

This role provides strategic and operational leadership to the Acute Care Program Office, overseeing daily operations and supporting the design and implementation of initiatives that enhance service coverage and improve operational efficiency, in alignment with Alberta Health Services AHS priorities. The Coordinator will lead planning efforts to ensure appropriate support and coordination of Associate Physicians and Physician Assistants across Calgary’s acute care centres, while supporting budget planning, monitoring, forecasting, and cost control to ensure responsible resource utilization. Serving as a trusted advisor to program and clinical leadership, the incumbent will translate operational, financial, and workforce data into actionable insights that support clinical service delivery and informed decision making. The role includes responsibility for recruitment, team leadership, and coordination of program operations. Key responsibilities include supporting recruitment, generating program and financial reports, and implementing policies that promote fairness, consistency, and operational effectiveness. The Coordinator will foster a collaborative and mentorship focused environment, while managing human and financial resources, monitoring expenditures, ensuring compliance, and supporting equitable resource allocation.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field, supplemented with formal training in program and project management, evaluation, and data analysis. A graduate degree or relevant certifications (e.g., project management, healthcare leadership, or quality improvement) is considered an asset.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Extensive experience working with International Medical Graduates (IMGs), with a strong understanding of their unique backgrounds, transition challenges, and support needs within the healthcare system. Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive, supportive, and culturally responsive environment that promotes successful integration and professional development. Proven expertise in designing and managing coverage schedules to support acute care operations, ensuring appropriate physician allocation, continuity of care, and responsiveness to service demands across multiple sites.


Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to lead and execute complex initiatives from planning through implementation and evaluation. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, establish timelines, allocate resources effectively. Experience applying project management methodologies to support operational improvements, service optimization, and program development within a healthcare or complex organizational environment.
