The Covenant Health Simulation Consultant position may be the right opportunity for you. In this role, the incumbent will apply their expertise in experiential education to support simulation education across all Covenant Health Acute and Continuing Care sites. The Simulation consultant supports and mentors' clinical experts/educators across the continuum of care by providing simulation expertise for the design, validation and evaluation of simulation curriculum, courses, and training that adhere to adult learning principles and quality outcomes. In this position, the ideal candidate will excel in developing and implementing programs and best practices that support clinical simulation through collaboration with operational leaders and educators. They will make ethical decisions and results-oriented recommendations. Fostering an attitude of curiosity and inquiry, enhancing employee engagement & development, and encouraging innovation & continuous learning will be key to success. Routine travel to various Covenant Health sites is required a nd may include the use of personal vehicles. A standard driver’s abstract will also be required for use of corporate lease vehicles. Description:
Reporting to the Corporate Director, Professional Practice, Clinical Learning, and Libraries, the Simulation Consultant (SC) supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of simulation-based education across Covenant Health. Working within the Corporate Clinical Learning Team and functionally supervised by the Simulation Lead, this role provides expertise, mentorship, and quality assurance for simulation providers, collaborates with internal and external partners, and contributes to the development and delivery of scenarios, criteria, and technologies that assess clinical competence and enhance readiness to practice. The consultant also assists with special simulation events, accreditation processes, and continuing education initiatives. This position is non-unionized.

Candidates must possess a related diploma or degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) as required for entry to practice and be a member in good standing with a relevant licensing body or professional association in the province of Alberta. A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Registered Health Professional is required, along with at least two (2) years of experience in an educator or clinical lead role. Additionally, applicants must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in simulation-based education.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrates innovation, flexibility and openness to new ideas and methods. A proven lifelong learner demonstrating subject matter expertise that is rooted in best practice. Highly motivated, collaborative team player with a proven ability to foster and maintain partnerships. Strong organizational and conflict resolution skills. Ability to flex schedule as may be operationally required as well as routine travel between sites throughout the province as needed. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with strong communication, relational, coaching, and organizational and program evaluation skills. They are computer literate and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Additionally, they possess progressive leadership capabilities, with strengths in team building, conflict resolution, and effective problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree preferred. Strong preference for formal simulation training and experience delivering adult education (e.g., ACLS, PALS, ATLS; non‑clinical equivalents considered). Requires 3+ years in simulation‑based education. Ideal candidates have research/publication, quality improvement, and safety experience, understand clinical, operational, and technology challenges, and possess knowledge of adult learning theory, simulation modalities, clinical use, and project management.
