Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services' Connect Care Clinical Operations is currently looking to add a temporary Senior Trainer to its provincial team. Connect Care is a transformative provincial Health Care program that looks to integrate over 1300 independent systems across Alberta into one platform that will enhance patient quality care as we know it. The Senior Trainer is responsible for collaborating with clinical and operation leaders to define, plan, implement and evaluate the learning required to create a comprehensive training plan and ensure resources are available to support clinical operations. The Senior Trainer is a key member of the team responsible for leading the development and facilitation of learning throughout the preparation and implementation of Connect Care supporting for clinicians & staff using various modules. Reporting to the Manager of Curriculum Development, Connect Care Clinical Operations, the Senior Trainer engages with Clinical and Operational leaders working with the Connect Care Learning team to define, plan, implement and evaluate the learning required to ensure smooth change management with minimal disruption to clinical operations. There is flexibility as to the location of this position within the Province of Alberta. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate may discuss location options with the hiring manager.

Description:

The Senior Trainer is a key member of the Connect Care Learning Team responsible for leading, oversight, development, and facilitation of learning in the implementation and support of Connect Care Clinical Information Systems (CIS) initiative. Providing effective communication and direction to ensure accurate provision of accounts in alignment with role/competency-based access model. Will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team and subject matter experts for the development and evaluation of learning materials for end-users to develop the trainer and superuser programs. The Senior Trainer will participate in the following: development of all learning materials and determination of specialized, role-based/generic learning requirements., support the role assignment by operations of users into Connect Care roles to align with access and training, develop and maintain the Connect Care training environment including training patient build, development of certification or assessment programs, support the delivery of the credential training program to ensure learning of curriculum, environment build and paneling of all credential trainers, development of the overall learning pathway to support the appropriate level of learning for each user, ensure that all users who need to be trained on the system are trained prior to gaining access to the production system, development of an ongoing learning program providing Connect Care support leveraging appropriate tools.

Required Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree required. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working with an inpatient area and/or women's health, familiar with clinical documentation. A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in clinical roles in the provision of healthcare or a strong working knowledge and intimate understanding of healthcare delivery. Membership in good standing with appropriate professional organization (i.e., CRNA, SOAT, CPTA, etc.). Working knowledge of the Alberta Health Services and the Clinical Information function. Extensive knowledge and understanding of clinical practice and workflows along with Alberta Health Services as an organization, with emphasis on Connect Care workflows. Travel within Alberta required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven strong organization skills, excellent communication, and interview skills, excellent interpersonal and team building skills. Must have the ability to manage other trainers to deliver EMR clinical and operational training to a diverse set of end users. Must have demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead others and impress upon them the importance of training during the install. Ability to actively and positively participate and negotiate solutions to resolve conflicts that arise during implementation. Ability to lead other IT and clinical operations staff through complex discussions and negotiate solutions. Detail oriented with a knack for probing for information in order to fully understand the underlying needs that drive how the system should be built. Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually to build and maintain positive working relationships will be key success factors in this role. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines are essential. Must have working knowledge of basic systems principles, theories, and concepts and of the healthcare business. Experience mentoring and supporting junior staff. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Self-motivated with little supervision. Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and computer work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Epic or other CIS application curriculum development and training experience is highly desirable. Current Epic Principal Trainer Certification is an asset. Master’s degree in a related field preferred. Health related degree preferred.
