Master's degree in Nursing. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Aspire Homes provides clinical leadership and support to an interdisciplinary team serving clients with co-occurring developmental disabilities, mental health and addictions, and forensic involvement in a secure residential setting. The CNS coordinates therapeutic programming, ensuring residents are supported in achieving recovery goals through evidence-based practices. Key responsibilities include supervising and mentoring staff, contributing to performance evaluations, and supporting professional development. The CNS also plays a vital role in policy and procedure development, quality improvement, and risk management. They collaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance service delivery and address gaps in clinical practice. Clinical support involves guiding both regulated and unregulated staff through case consultations, documentation review, and direct intervention when needed. This may include mental health support, group therapy, or nursing care. The CNS also assists with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing evaluation of team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and excellence in care. Minimum 5 years of experience in mental health, addictions, developmental disabilities, or forensic nursing.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience in a healthcare or residential setting. Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ASD, FASD, ID), and addiction treatment. Experience with therapeutic programming and clinical documentation. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and team collaboration skills.
